How To Shop Online In Korea

I have noticed that in Korea, it seems to be easier for Americans at least to find plenty of imported goods from back home to satisfy their homesick palettes. However as a Brit it seems that we are not so lucky. I can only dream of finding a decent brand of British tea or UK made Cadbury’s Dairy Milk on the shop shelves. Whilst I am not one for condoning free advertising for companies in this blog entry, I do want to tell you about an amazing website I have been introduced to by one of my Korean co-workers. If you come to Korea to teach English you will usually be set up with in your apartment with various essentials such as a rice cooker in your kitchen, plus of course various furniture such as a bed and a sofa. However you might find that you need to purchase some odd extras like err…….AN OVEN! Yeah you heard right! Koreans don’t generally have ovens in their own homes.

 

So yeah, this is where this website comes in handy. Known as Gmarket it kinda does “exactly what it says on the tin”. An online market; consisting of different companies selling various items from house ware, to electrical items, to food and drink, only at a fraction of the price to what you might find in the shops here in Bucheon and the rest of Korea. And there is an English option!!! Woohoooo!!!! The best part is, you also can find great British substitutes to keep yourself happy! I ordered a very cheap mini oven the other day and it arrived this morning! So now I can bake to my heart’s content and also make a Traditional English Sunday Roast Dinner!......YUMMMMM!!! Original Tour of My Apartment

OK so although this video is two months old now, this is the original tour of my apartment just when I first moved in at the beginning of October. Two months later, my apartment has more things in now and is looking a little more cosey! For those of you looking to come to South Korea to teach, this will give you some sort of idea as to what you new home may consist of. Of course when you arrive it may be completely different, however at least this will give you an insight. A day in Central Park

OK so maybe not the one in New York!! 

But I do have one close to me on my doorstep! 

Yep, Bucheon has it's very own Central Park. 

It is near the Bucheon City Hall & Hyundai 

Department store, both of which are not from 

my apartment. I have been told that this park becomes really popular in the warmer months as most people live in apartments with no gardens. It fills up with many families during the summer time and many festivals and events are held here throughout the year. Notice you will see a big stage in the centre of the park. That is actually a permanent fixture here which is kinda cool to see as you would not have something like that back in London...not permanent anyway!. So what more did I fancy doing on my lazy Sunday afternoon than a nice stroll in the park! Just click on the video below and enjoy like I did! 

A Tour of my school

So this is a video tour of my school. I work at Kang's Language School in Bucheon, South Korea. It is a private school, otherwise known as a Hagwon. I teach classes of children as young as six years of age, right up to adult classes. 

The video will take you throughout my school and you get to see some of my energectic children I have to teach! Enjoy!

Hi everyone and welcome to this part blog/part info site! I have many videos, pictures and blogs that I need to upload over the next week or so and will gradually develop this site as an information hub to those wishing to come to South Korea. 

This site will be especially valuable to all you Brits out there as it will be a guide to teaching English in Bucheon and South Korea from the perspective of a British guy. However, wherever you are from I really hope you all find this site useful!
